to serenade
family deep below.
How sad to think
in our stupidity
the only whalesong
our children will hear
is on Youtube.

Yesterday a whale watching tour boat, loaded with camera toting tourists guaranteed a ‘sighting’, rammed a humpback at high speed in the Straits. Last night the humpback washed up on the beach. How senseless and egotistical we have become!
