Things that make me go hmm...

More thoughts from the Hmmmitage file as Canada heads towards the call for a federal election. This election is going to be especially interesting since two of the national party leaders are running in ridings right next to mine (Carney in Nepean and Peckerhead in Carleton) so expect more right wing dirty tricks to be afoot (Conservative Robo-Calls and misdirection to polls that don’t exist etc.). ‘Elbows Up’ will definitely be the theme, let’s just hope that Yellow Pelt and his cronies stay the F**k out of our election.

Hmmmitage Part Deux:

  1. Ever notice on MSTeams if you set your status to ‘Busy’ you get messaged constantly but if you set your status to ‘Available’ you will have peace and quiet for hours?
  2. Why do they call it ‘Zoom’ if it takes forever to connect?
  3. Why do my bluetooth earbuds connect to every device I own except the one laptop I need them for?
  4. Why do North American mainstream news people call themselves ‘journalists’ when they are really ‘presenters’ or ‘editorialists’?
  5. Why does FB block ‘news’ from Canadian users of the platform but has no problem with Canadian false-news right wing attack ‘ads’?
  6. In a similar vein ever notice the user names of the right wing trolls? Even their names are meant to make you angry (more anger = more discussion / response = greater ad revenue)
  7. If attacking a Tesla dealership is an act of terrorism how come it isn’t to attack DEI / LGBTQ+ / minority communities in general?
  8. Isn’t it a bit ironic that the right wing Cons are labelling Mark Carney as ‘Carbon Tax’ Carney when the carbon tax was brought in by the Conservative government of the day?
  9. Do people actually believe that gutting NOAA will make climate change go away?
  10. And in the ‘Whew Dodged a Bullet’ dept: It has been many, many years since I had a measles vaccine so I checked, and yup, it appears that I still have the immunities in my system (I had several types of measles as a kid, including Rubella about a year before they started vaccinating!)
