Sublime (noun): supreme or outstanding.
There is beauty all around us, and then there is the sublime, that touch more than beautiful that reaches deep inside you to a place even the appreciation of beauty can’t reach. It doesn’t have to be runway model beautiful, Barbie doll beauty is superficial at best.
No, sublime beauty touches you, brings a tear to your eyes or makes your heart soar. It becomes a touchstone of ‘goodness’ when you are feeling down or disconnected (or both), returning to it like a favourite fuzzy sweater or slippers.
I have friends like that, their beauty comes from deep within and shines out to create a sublime glow that warms everyone who comes near. They would be embarrassed to hear that, they are simply being themselves, even if their caring heart sublime nature is obvious to all.
Here is my list of the sublime, my touchstones that make me pause whatever I am doing just to watch, listen and feel the sublime peace inside.
