The SamBag - recycling a wee pair of painter pants into a multi-functional carry bag.

Okay this one comes with a story.

I am not a pack-rat, more a crow. I don’t save things just to save them, with a mountain of odds and ends in my shop downstairs. Well, actually I do but that is another story, and not a hoarding story!

Anyway, many moons ago when Sam was just a wee lad, we were going through his old clothes to make a bulk donation to the Sally Ann. In the pile of jumpers, onesies etc was a pair of painter pants.

Well, there is something that turns on a lightbulb in my brain about pants with many pockets – places to store, organize, hide, whatever in a portable fashion.

So I snagged the painter pants and tucked them away in a box.

Fast forward to now. Part of my work requires me to carry a company phone 24/7. Now this can be a pain, carrying 2 phones, when I am out and about. You know where this is going, eh?

So with a bit of my time this morning, a couple of poked fingers from the needle, a bit of the leftover leather from that craft fair a couple weeks ago and that old pair of painter pants and we have…

The SamBag – small enough not to get in the way, soft sided so it doesnt dig into my side like some laptop bags, big enough for a sketch or notebook, 2 phones and even a loop on the front to hang my keys.

I am all set! And it is kind of cool to think of toting around a bag from when Mr. Sam was Wee Sam.

🙂

Cheers,
Mark
