Front and back views of the earbuds pouch for my messenger bag.

If you know me IRL you will usually see me carrying a shoulder bag or fanny pack, back issues making it impossible for me to sit with a wallet in my hip pocket.

A couple weeks back Sam and I made the journey (believe me OCTranspo on the weekend can be an adventure!) to Bayshore Mall (oh joy I love malls – /sarcasm) to take advantage of a sale at West 49.

To whit the sale was a 3 for 1 sale and Sam was looking for summer shorts, and a long sleeved shirt and cargoes for grad next month (man, time flies!). Deals like this do not come along every day and I happen to have a fondness for West 49, even though skateboarding would probably be the death of me. There is just something about their cargoes – so comfy and casual I have several pairs (I also live in cargoes and crocs if I can get away with it! – being a semi-hermit senior has its perks).

Anyway I digress. One of the things on sale was a smaller messenger bag that had me hankering to replace my Targus bag (clunky). At $19.99 it looked to be priced just about right. I enquired at the counter (being a cheap-ass) whether the messenger bags were on the 3 for 1 sale.

They were! Sadly the only colour left was a light green. No biggy, Sam and I are planning a trip west this Summer so matching bags might work! I bought 3 (for $19.99 total!).

The bag is great! It fits unobtrusively under my right arm, does not swing about like my Targus and is about 1/4 the weight. Unfortunately putting in two phones, a notebook, my wallet, metal ‘Dr. Phil’ case and ear buds case makes it just about burst at the seams.

Which got me thinking… lol

In my leather stash were the remnants of an old pair of moccasins, much loved, that had gone to the happy hunting grounds when I realized my toes were coated in snow from a 2″ hole in the bottom!

Now leather is leather, so I quickly laid out an ear buds case (above) that simply hangs from the strap of the bag. Problem solved!

It works great, I have more room in my bag, easy access to my ear buds on boring bus rides, and the pouch is big enough for my card case if I wish.

Got to love recycling – from Toe to Head!

Cheers,
Mark
