I Remember - a poem about young love, tall grass and an azure sky.

I remember,
lying flat in tall grass
looking skyward towards infinity,
watching the heavens
sail past like cotton wool,
in an azure sky.

I remember,
a fly buzzing as she walked
across my glasses left to right,
a black blur, vibrating wings
and cheeky smile,
against an azure sky.

I remember,
my mind stopped turning,
10 thousands thoughts per minute,
strategies, thoughts and visions,
painted over by the stillness,
of an azure sky.

I remember,
the static heat of skin,
two arms side by side,
deep in closest touch,
unspoken thoughts sent by contact,
beneath an azure sky.

I remember,
was it Cinnabar or Opium,
wafting soft upon the seabreeze,
as the early golden sunrise
kissed the mountains,
to greet an azure day.

(for some reason this poem didn’t seem finished without the last full stanza. Or perhaps it was the remembrance that didn’t seem finished – ml)
