the law men

The sound of starlight
twinkling
like the keys
of my Father’s piano
reflected in the flicker
red glow of a hurricane
perched above his smile
casting shadows
from his chin
to my ears
50 years after
I last walked
the salty shale
and sat silent
listening
in the dark and wind
wrapped tight
in the blanket
of my memories.

My Father lived a simple life wrapped around a complex person. Sadly we didn’t speak for many years until we got to know each other again a few years before he passed. It’s kind of ironic in a way realizing I am not that different from him.

Miss you Dad!
