Funny as it may sound I notice actress performances more than actors. Perhaps it is because there are fewer ‘strong woman’ roles, more fluff and boobs than necessary for sure. There are a few actors that have stood out to me, the ones I will watch in a movie just because their name is on it. Here is my top 10 (in no particular order):
- Benedict Cumberbatch (VERY good Sherlock Holmes).
- Jeremy Brett (The definitive Sherlock Holmes).
- Stanley Tucci (such a chameleon, everything he is in is good).
- Simon Pegg (Hector and The Pursuit of Happiness, Shaun of the Dead etc.).
- James Spader (one word ‘Red’).
- Peter Sellers (‘Being There’ is a must see).
- Kevin Spacey (I know he has a bad rap now but Virgil Kint MADE ‘The Usual Suspects’).
- Robbie Coltrane (before Harry Potter there was ‘Cracker’)
- Douglas Henshall (‘Shetland’ ’nuff said)
- Stellen Skarsgaard (‘River’ with the incomparable Nicola Walker).
Honourable mentions: Ryan Reynolds, Tom Hanks, Gary Sinise, Brendan Fraser, John Hannah, Robson Green
