I’m a big ‘oatmeal in the morning’ fan, probably eating it a good 300 days per year. But nothing is more annoying to me than those silly instant oatmeal pouches you buy for exorbitant prices in the supermarket. What’s the point, it takes 2 or 3 of them to make a decent meal?
But on the other hand who has an extra 20 minutes every day making oatmeal the traditional way?
Microwave to the rescue!
Hearty Nuked Oatmeal
- 1/2 – Cup Large Flake or Quick Oatmeal (avoid the Instant like the plague unless you like eating wallpaper paste!)
- 3/4 – Cup of Cold Water
- 2 – Large TBsp of Greek Yogurt (6% Plain works best for me!)
- Sugar / Honey / Maple Syrup to taste (optional)
- To a microwave safe bowl add the Oatmeal and Water – stir well and add just a wee bit of water to make sure the oatmeal is covered.
- Nuke on High for 2:30 (give or take 5 seconds depending on your microwave)
- Remove from the nuker
- Add the Sugar / Honey / Maple Syrup and Yogurt
- Stir well and enjoy!
Note: You can add fresh fruit like bananas AFTER nuking, frozen fruit like blueberries before nuking.
